Science Week
This week we have celebrated British Science Week, by doing activities related to this year’s theme Journey. Celebrating 25 years since the inauguration of the Channel tunnel, we have built tunnels out of salt dough and learnt they are a lot harder to build than they seem. We have made paper helicopters too and wondered how real helicopters and planes manage to lift up and fly in spite of them being so heavy. We have also discovered the force of magnets in connection with electric cars, which make our journey more environmentally friendly. On Thursday, the strong wind has made us postpone our rocket launching experiment, with which we were supposed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of man landing on the Moon. As our last experiment, on Friday, the older children built da Vinci bridges and the younger ones did a gooey liquid race. The children across all classes have been focussing on Science in their learning: growing plants, dissecting flowers and building sand tunnels. We had lots of fun and hopefully, some of our children will once become great scientists, discovering the many wonders of our universe
